Boat Storage Policy and Fees

November 2, 2024

Members who are fully paid are permitted to store their boats, trailers, and/or other authorized equipment on the RBSA premises.  The Rehoboth Bay Sailing Association does not assume any responsibility whatsoever for any damage sustained by any automobile, boat, sailboard, trailer, SUP, kayak, sails, masts or other equipment located on its premises.  Rehoboth Bay is a fairly shallow bay best suited for boats with centerboards or daggerboards.  Boats drawing a maximum of 24 inches are able to be docked in the RBSA marina.

Members are both responsible for and required for any boats, trailers and/or equipment on the RBSA premises.  The following rules apply to all equipment on the RBSA site.

  • Before any boat, or trailer may be stored on RBSA property, the owner must complete and sign the RBSA Boat/Trailer Registration & Storage Agreement.  Any changes to that information must be reported to the RBSA Manager immediately.  Send the completed form to admin@rbsa.org or Rehoboth Bay Sailing Association, PO Box 483, Rehoboth Beach, DE  19971.  For a copy of our Boat/Trailer Registration and Storage Agreement click HERE
  • No boat or trailer may be kept at the Club unless a Boat/Trailer Registration & Storage Agreement is completed and signed for each item and a current RBSA registration sticker is affixed to each item. For example, if a boat is on a trailer, both the boat and the trailer require registration stickers and proper fees paid.
  • All boats, trailers and/or equipment on the RBSA premises, whether on the beach or in the parking lot, that could be damaged, moved, washed away, and/or flipped during any storm, inclement weather, flooding or high tides must be tied down to prevent any movement of the boat, trailer and/or equipment. The owner is fully responsible for any damage that occurs to the RBSA property or any other members equipment if such boat, trailer and/or equipment is not properly secured.
  • No boat, trailer, sailboard, or piece of equipment can be kept at the Club unless the owner is a current active member of the Club – meaning that their current year membership dues have been paid in full and any past outstanding account paid in full.
  • Any trailer on RBSA property must be maintained in a safe and easily useable, operable, and moveable condition. ( i.e., it must have inflated tires, all required wheels, working tongue hitch, and non-rusted out/broken frames or springs, etc.).
  • All masts must be dropped by November 1.  Any boat whose mast is not dropped by November 1 will be assessed a fee of $100.  Masts must remain dropped through the end of February.
  • Boats, trailers and/or equipment must stored and maintained in the location determined and assigned by the Club Manager.  When not in use, such items may only be kept in the assigned location,  must be properly secured and tied down in a manner that will prevent movement caused by wind or high water.  No boats, trailers and/or equipment may be stored in the clubhouse garage at any time of the year.
  • RBSA staff reserves the right to move boats, trailers and/or equipment at the sole discretion of the Club Manager when deemed necessary to optimize space, maintain grounds, or for any other operational need.
  • RBSA will attempt to accommodate boats, boat trailers, sailboards, and other related equipment of members if space is available in the assigned areas. If and when this is not possible, a waiting list will be established. Boats, trailers, and/or equipment on RBSA property that are not properly registered and displaying a valid registration sticker will be removed, impounded, and disposed of.
  • Membership dues must be paid in full by May 15.  Winter storage fees must be paid in full by November 1.  Summer storage fees must be paid in full by June 1.  If not paid in time and in full, membership may be suspended and/or terminated, boat spots may be re-assigned, and fees of $50 per month assessed.
  • Trial members (i.e., daily or weekly members), inactive sustaining members and/or non members may not keep their boat, boat trailer, and/or equipment on Club property. Non-members participating in a scheduled sailing regatta at RBSA may keep their boats and/or trailers on Club property but all such boats and/or trailers must be removed promptly at the end of the regatta.
  • Automobiles must be parked in designated parking areas only. Parking on any roadway or roadway shoulder, near boats stored on trailers, near the hoist, or entrance to the south or north beach area is strictly prohibited.
