The Rehoboth Bay Foundation (RBF) is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded by and based at the Rehoboth Bay Sailing Association (RBSA).
The Foundation, operating since 1994, is governed by an all-volunteer 6-person Board of Directors.

The focus of the Foundation's activities is:

  • • Support of sailing school programs for youths,
  • • Support of programs and activities addressing safety on and off the water,
  • • Sponsoring related education activities for the underprivileged,
  • • Advancement of wetlands preservation, water conservation, and the preservation of both natural and historical resources.

Most of the monies raised annually is used to support the RBSA sailing school program and directly related activities. Additionally, the Foundation identifies and contributes financially to other local projects that reflect positively on RBSA and further the Foundation's mission.

Examples of the Foundation’s support of RBSA activities include paying the tuition and expenses for sailing instructors’ training/certification courses, the repair and maintenance of boats used by the sailing school, and safety related activities such as paying for CPR training for all RBSA staff and the purchase of needed safety items.

In addition to its support of RBSA activities that fit within the Foundation’s mission, the Foundation has been providing grants to the following local organizations:

  • • US Coast Guard Station Indian River
  • • Our local Sea Scouts program – Ship 198
  • • Our local US Coast Guard Auxiliary – Flotilla 12-09 for education programs
  • • Sussex Family YMCA for swimming instruction for disadvantaged children
  • • The Center for Inland Bays for environmental education programs for children
  • • The Lewes-Rehoboth Canal Improvement Association
  • • The Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute
  • • Small “good neighbor” grants showing support for the work of Delaware Seashore Preservation and the Delaware River & Bay Lighthouse foundations

Rehoboth Bay Foundation's endeavors are funded by financial contributions and by the donation of boats and trailers that the Foundation either uses for its programs or sells to support its programs. It is primarily RBSA volunteers who plan and run the events sponsored by the Foundation and held at RBSA. The Board especially welcomes member's suggestions of new mission related projects and programs.

In order to continue the Foundation's work, please help by making a tax-deductible donation to the RBF and/or by donating a boat or trailer that you may have but no longer use.
